December 2024 Issue

The December issue of BusinessF1 focuses on the breakdown of the relationship between John Malone and Greg Maffei, who run Liberty Media, the owners of Formula One. It is called: ‘Sometimes you just don’t like somebody.’ After ten years together the relationship has run its course.

There are five in-depth Insight articles spanning the real stories of what is going on in Formula One today. We look at the severe problems facing Aston Martin Lagonda and wonder what the future holds. The engineless Ferrari is on the horizon and that presents all sorts of opportunities. Formula One used to be a bastion of male superiority but the pendulum has swung and the sport is now in an era of sexual puritanism.

The Red Bull RB17 track car is short of customers and short of time so is it time to start again on this misconceived car? Lewis Hamilton has just brought LVMH into Formula One and is proving his worth to Formula One in every way. There is a light-hearted look at the so-called love triangle between Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman.

We also look back at the lives of Chaleo Yoovidhya and the relationship he had with Dietrich Mateschitz. We remember Peter Wheeler and his time at TVR, the British sports car maker. There is also an extract from Derek Warwick’s autobiography called ‘Never Look Back’ as he writes movingly about the death of his brother, Paul 33 years ago at Oulton Park in a Formula 3000 race.
